Types of Back Pain You Should Know
Back pain is one of the common reasons why people take a sick leave. Moreover it is the number one cause of disability in the world. There are various practices that will help avoid and treat episodes of back pain. However, if back pain still persists, it can still be cured at home within weeks to restore its mobility. Surgery is not necessarily needed to get rid of back pain.
Sciatica
When upright or in some cases lying down, the weight of your body combined with muscle imbalances can cause your spine to twist or sag. This can produce a bulging disc or sciatic nerve pain which sends excruciating pain into your buttocks or legs. This pain is commonly referred to as sciatica.
What is sciatica?
sciatica is a broad term which encompasses many symptoms stemming from the sciatic nerve. sciatic pain normally travels down your leg and in some severe cases can make it impossible to put weight on your leg. Other sciatica symptoms include pain felt in the buttock or parts of your leg or foot.
Upper back pain
Pain in the upper back is an extension of problems lower down in the body and they often appear after a person has previously suffered with low back pain. Upper back pain is usually felt between the shoulder blades or up closer to the neck area and is exacerbated by carrying the weight of the head and arms around on muscles that are often tight and weak with poor circulation. People who work using their arms in a fixed position, such as at a computer all day, or a mother constantly carrying young children, usually suffer from upper back pain more than someone who doesn’t.
To successfully treat upper back pain a therapist needs to address problems with the core muscles lower down the body to improve circulation to the upper back.
Lower back pain
Probably the most common complaint people have in respect to back pain is low back pain. the lower back area is the central region for all our bending and twisting movements and so it is no surprise that this area ends up in pain when muscle problems in the rest of the body come to a head. low back pain is a fairly simple problem to get rid of providing the right approach is taken but unfortunately many people struggle with it because the treatment they seek doesn’t deal disc bulge/disc herniation
Your spine is made up of 24 articulating vertebrae and in between each of these vertebrae are intervertebral discs designed to stop the vertebrae from rubbing together and give them cushioned support.
When you develop a problem with these discs such as a disc bulge or herniation, it is considered a more serious back problem. This occurs when a part of the disc bulges outside of the line of the vertebrae and impinges on a nerve causing pain and weakness in the lower body.
